India formulated its first national youth policy in 1985 and created a separate Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2014. The first national youth policy was replaced by new policy in 2003. A fresh national youth policy was adopted in 2014 under the world-wide circumstances of globalization and information, communication and technology revolution.
The vision of the National Youth Policy, 2014 is-" to empower youth to achieve their full potential, and through them enable India to find its rightful place in the community of nation. " The Government of India consider that the youth of India should be 'active drivers' and not merely the 'passive recipients' of development. National Youth Policy, 2014 envisages following core and sub-areas for the holistic development of Indian youth-
